Upper Selsdon Road closure
07/07/2014 13:28:00......Posted by Tim Pollard
Ongoing works to install a high voltage cable at this location have been temporarily suspended due to safety concerns regarding carriageway width available under the current traffic management consisting of two way lights.
Contractors have been instructed by Croydon Council to carry out a temporary reinstatement, which will take place over the next two nights, and to relook and resubmit traffic plans, taking the new circumstances into account.
It has become apparent that due to a water main being further out into the carriageway than expected, these works are no-longer able to proceed under two-way signals. In order to maintain the safety of the operatives, public and highway users a road closure is now required. This will commence tonight at 21:00-05:00 for two nights. Please note, this is only to backfill and permanently reinstate the carriageway. This will enable the road to be fully opened to traffic, and further decisions will then be made on how to proceed with the remaining section of works to be undertaken by UKPN on this road.
Diversion for northbound traffic will be via: Addington Rd, Sanderstead Hill, Mayfield Rd, Carlton Road, Selsdon Road
And: Farley Road, Croham Valley Road, Croham Road, Croham Manor Road.
Diversion for southbound traffic via: Carlton Rd, Mayfield Road, Sanderstead Hill, Addington Road. And: Arkwright, Church Road (as a last catching point).
To facilitate these works the Upper Selsdon Road will be closed to all traffic and buses will be diverted as follows:
