Purley Urgent Care Centre - Use it or lose it

You may know that the revamped Purley Hospital is now operational, but the problem is that most residents don’t, even those in Purley itself. However, those who do know it has opened don’t know enough about the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) to be able to make good use of it.
The investment in the Hospital was justified to provide accessible out-patient & urgent care services to the whole of the South of the borough, all 100k plus of us, and to relieve pressure on Croydon University Hospital (Mayday) A&E.
GPs are referring patients towards the clinics, which is very positive, but no one seems to be very interested in marketing the Urgent Care Centre. Therefore the number of people attending is way, way below what was forecast. It was planned to be open 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, and indeed that's the basis on which it opened and is currently running. However, actual attendance is averaging less than 20 patients a day. The CCG, which is taking over the UCC, recognises that this is an unaffordable situation and is now reducing hours to 8 hours a day. They will review this again, in six month’s time and these hours could be changed again - either way, up or down.

So this is the situation. If we don't use it, we stand to lose it. Please do spread the word, so that patients for whom this is the ideal treatment centre will be aware of it and make beneficial use of its services. The quicker we get the word around and attendance up, the more secure its future will be.
