Town and Country Show - Lloyd Park
18/04/2016 11:40:00......Posted by Helen Pollard

The Lloyd Park Town and Country Show is scheduled to take place on the 29th and 30th of May 2016.

When this was being planned, the Fairfield Councillors were asked for comments.  Following issues with previous events at Lloyd Park, we asked the Council to ensure they addressed the issues of noise, parking, litter etc.  Here is an update on what they are doing to minimise any negative impact on neighbouring residents.

"Regarding litter, the operator has agreed to litter pick the site and leave in A1 condition.

A letter from my manager will be put through doors of all local residents around the park next week outlining the event and giving contact numbers should any resident require any further information, a copy of this letter will be sent to each of you.

The organiser has also agreed to put a letter with complimentary tickets to the show through all local residents doors, a copy of this letter will also be sent to yourselves.

The organiser has agreed to use Coombe Lodge Playing Fields as a car park which will be stewarded, the cricket wicket and outfield will be roped off, the entrance into Lloyd Park Car Park will be stewarded and used by disabled badge holders only.

We and the organiser are extremely keen for this to be a complete success and become an annual event."

It is always good to have events in our parks - I hope this one runs smoothly and is enjoyed by many Croydon residents.

Surrey Street

Spent the morning meeting residents in the area around Surrey Street.  They are very concerned about the proposal to put a nightclub in the basement of the Q Car Park which is just off Surrey Street.  The market stall holders are also concerned as they store their goods, vans and stalls in the basement.

New Addington

Spent the morning meeting residents in New Addington.  They want to see more things for young people to do, and are concerned about the way community groups are being supported.

Children's Services Briefing

Attended a briefing about the MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) team in Croydon Council's Children's Services.  All councillors are 'corporate parents' so it's important to get a better understanding of all aspects of Children's Services.

Council Meeting
04/12/2017 14:31:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended Council Meeting in the Town Hall.  Asked the Cllr Butler about what protection will be provided for our green spaces under the local plan.  Not very reassured by her answer as there are likely to be some green spaces with no protection at all.

Lloyd Park litter
02/12/2017 10:29:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

In Lloyd Park today and was disappointed to see two bins overflowing with rubbish. This seems to be happening more regularly in the last year or so.  I have reported this to the council and will put pressure on the current administration to ensure the parks cleaning contractor does its job properly.

New tower block in Wandle Road
01/12/2017 10:24:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

At the Planning Meeting on 30th November there was a presentation about a proposed 25 storey tower block which would be built on the site of the current Wandle Road car park.  It will be a lot higher than the blocks of flats in the near neighbourhood, but not as high as some other tower blocks in Croydon.  I would welcome views about this development so that when a formal planning application is submitted I can represent local views.
