Fairfield's Super Saturday

Community spirit is alive and well in Fairfield. After my councillor surgery in St Matthew’s Church I went to see how the setting up of the Flower Fairy event in was going in Park Hill. Preparations were well underway and a toddler picnic was in full flow.
I then went to St Peter’s Village Fayre. The church bells were ringing, there were stalls, activities and a barbecue on the go. I bought a plant from the plant stall.
After lunch I went back to Park Hill with my family. There was some fantastic indian dancing and a big audience sitting in the shade of a tree watching, enthralled. There were craft activities for children, a pop-up cinema in the pavilion and vegetables being planted in the new raised beds. The flowers in the walled garden, that is maintained by community gardeners, looked spectacular.
The afternoon was rounded off by a visit to the RHS Flower Show in Wettern Tree Garden in Sanderstead. Traditional band, afternoon tea and more flowers.
Big thanks must go to all the people involved with making these events happen. Croydon really is a great place to live.
