Flower Fairy Festival Timetable
17/06/2015 17:00:00......Posted by Helen Pollard

Here are more details about the Flower Fairy Festival that will be taking place in Park Hill Park over the next two weekends.  Hope to see you there!

The festival is geared for families and has FREE entry to 99% of the events. A full timetable of the activities, workshops & performances at the festival will be published on the Croydon Heritage Festival website, along with details as to which of the workshops are ticketed although you can just turn up. There will be a very nominal charge for the craft workshops.

On both the 20th & 27th of June The Flower Fairy Festival will include a mini pop up cinema in the Pavilion at Park Hill Park. If successful we hope to hold more such movie nights in the park. We have a list of the films however as we are FREE we promote the films. Let’s just say it’s a mix appealing to children & adults. Rough time slots below.

It will be an informal, laid back, homemade affair with curtains to hold back the light of the longest day of the year, carpet on the floor with bean bags for seats. It will be FREE however we would appreciate donations from those attending in order to cover our costs.

Norbury flytips
18/11/2017 22:33:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Spent the morning meeting residents in the north of the borough today.  I was surprised at how much flytipping there is in the area, and wondered what the local Labour councillors are doing about it.  Such a shame that, despite the fanfare and Labour rhetoric about tidying up our borough, they have made no impact on how clean our streets are.

Westfield planning application
14/11/2017 22:26:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended the meeting of the Planning Committee where they were making a decision about the planning application for the huge Westfield/Hammerson development which will replace the Whitgift Centre.  There were many details that were absent from the plans (e.g. will there be 4 tower blocks or 5?) but the Committee agreed planning permission for the development.  Not a surprise as there is cross-party support for this scheme which will breathe new life into our town.

Parks meeting
13/11/2017 22:15:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

This evening I held a meeting for people who are in 'friends of parks' groups.  The objective was to find out how they think things are going in terms of the council services for parks.  I also wanted to find out what they think needs to be done to improve parks and what their vision is for the future of the green spaces in Croydon.

It was a very good meeting and refreshing to hear from such committed people who work so hard to make out parks a great place to visit.

Remembrance Sunday

Attended the service in the Minster to remember those who gave their lives for our country.  Following the service there was a parade in front of the Town Hall and I was impressed with how well our young people conducted themselves on this very cold day.

Met residents in the north of Fairfield ward today.  There a number of issues that were raised including the rubbish that builds up 'under the arches' and in the fenced off area near Lambert's place.  I will raise this with the council to see if it can be cleared up.
