Here is a message I have received from TfL about a temporary closure of Tramlink:
From Saturday 23 until Tuesday 26 May (end of Service), the London Borough of Croydon will be undertaking work around the town centre. This will require the closure of the town centre loop between Reeves Corner and East Croydon tram stops and is part of an ongoing programme of works called Connected Croydon. More details can be found at: www.croydon.gov.uk/connectedcroydon.
In order to maximise the effectiveness of this closure, London Tramlink will be undertaking a track renewal project as part of our 10-year Track Asset Renewals Plan. Work at Wellesley Road will begin on 23 May and continue until Tuesday 26 April (end of Service). Approximately 50 metres of the embedded track, on the junction of Station Road with Wellesley Road (Wellesley Road curve), needs to be replaced due to wear.
• Trams from Beckenham Junction, Elmers End and New Addington will terminate at East Croydon .
• Trams from Wimbledon will terminate at Reeves Corner.
• Line 4 will not run.
• There will be no service at Elmers End during early morning and evenings or all day on Sundays. Trams will also finish early at around 23.00 at Elmers End on Friday evening.
Bus 410 links East Croydon and Reeves Corner but due to extensive road works, through passengers may find it quicker to walk.
We appreciate that this work is potentially disruptive and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers. The track renewal projects are essential to enable us to maintain a safe and reliable service. London Tramlink has taken the opportunity of the bank holiday period, when our service is traditionally less busy, to try and minimise disruption while we carry out this work.
