Our police have provided an update on their activities in Kenley Ward
Welcome to Sergeant Matt Smith who has moved from Central
Croydon to replace Sergeant Treasure after she moved to Gypsy
Hill Police Station. Sergeant Smith will be taking charge of the
Kenley and Fieldway Local Policing Teams.
The next ward panel meeting will be held at the Kenley
Memorial Hall, Godstone Road, Kenley on Thursday 26th June
between 1830 & 2030 hours, this is an open forum to which you
are welcome and an excellent opportunity to meet the team, key
members of the local community and to discuss your concerns
whilst hearing others.
We also continue to conduct regular drop in surgeries at the
Kenley Market, the next one will be on 18th July at 1100 hours
In answer to recent Burglary concerns across all wards South of
the Borough, the cluster will now have a dedicated Burglary car,
responding to and reporting Burglaries as early as possible.
BURGLARY - We are aware of a prolific Burglar returning to
live on the Ward. He is expected to continue to commit crime in
the area, his preference being for theft from motor vehicles and
theft of motor vehicles by way of Burglary. With this news
please ensure you are as vigilant as possible, locking all doors,
making sure your vehicle keys are not on view from a window
and removing valuables from your car. Don’t be alarmed,
don’t be a victim.
PARKING OUTSIDE SCHOOLS - We have had a meeting with
The Hayes School regarding ongoing problems at key times and
we are looking at joint operations to improve the situation. We
would ask that if you must drive to the school that you try to
park some distance away and walk the remainder of the journey,
concerns have increased following a pupil needing to jump out
of the way of a reversing vehicle which then drove off.
SPEEDING - Road Watch remains our main deterrent for
speeding motorists and in conjunction with the above issue we
have been targeting Hayes Lane either side of the school.
Officers from the team have also been involved in Operation
Cubo which also targets uninsured drivers.
DRUGS - Kenley Local Policing
Team executed adrugs search warrant
in Garston Lane. A male has been
arrested for drug offences and
handling stolen goods.
BURGLARY - 3 arrests have been
made for Burglaries committed in
May. A further suspect has been
traced by DNA and is currently
ROBBERY - 3 youths have been
arrested following a Robbery in Old
Lodge Lane and await trial.
ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR - a
male, previously on an ASBO has
been evicted from Croftleigh Avenue.
