Conservatives elect new Deputy Leader

Croydon's Conservative Councillors have elected Cllr Jason Perry their new Deputy Leader. He'll join the current leadership team of Cllr Tim Pollard and Cllr Jason Cummings.

The vacancy arose following Cllr Sara Bashford's decision to accept a politically restricted position, and therefore having to stand down from the Council.

Cllr Tim Pollard, Leader of Croydon's Conservative Councillors, says: “I am delighted to welcome Jason Perry as my new Deputy Leader. Jason has a wealth of experience having successfully run a Council department as well as his own local business. He has been a true champion for our residents, working closely with our invaluable Residents' Associations and leading the fight against inappropriate development right across Croydon.

"Jason's detailed work on the Local Plan, as well as his in-depth knowledge of our borough's economic development issues, will make him a huge asset to the team."

Cllr Jason Perry, Croham councillor and Conservative spokesman for Economic Development, Planning & Regeneration, says: “I want to thank my Conservative colleagues for the faith that they have placed in me by electing me as one of their deputy leaders. With vital local elections next year, I will do all I can to repay that trust and deliver a Conservative victory - one that Croydon so desperately needs."

Cllr Vidhi Mohan will succeed Cllr Bashford as the Shadow Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment.
