O’Connell seeks support from Boris over Palace

Croydon’s London Assembly member has today raised the plight of Crystal Palace FC with Mayor Boris Johnson.

At Mayor’s Questions on Wednesday morning, Steve O’Connell asked the Mayor what he could do or say to help the Club at this critical time in its history.

Responding the Mayor said:
“I support you Steve in extending my sympathy to the Club, players and fans and I know the good work you will have done to make sure Selhurst Park will remain a football ground no matter what happens.”

Boris also committed to involving his sports adviser, Kate Hoey MP to see whether a solution can be found.

Speaking later, Mr O’Connell said:
“I welcome the fact that Boris is drafting in Kate Hoey to see whether a solution can be found to Palace’s current situation.
