Local Election 2006
Your Fieldway Candidates

A little about the team.....

Roland Petit Roland moved to New Addington from Beddington in 2002. Married with three children he has been actively involved as Youth Leader at Covies since 2001 and is an avid supporter of the local Little League football. Roland attends New Addington Residents’ Association Meetings and is very aware of the issues facing residents. He has become increasingly concerned at the “lack of pride” in our local area, which is becoming more evident at bus stops, for example, which are regularly vandalised and smashed. The elderly are feeling insecure and scared of leaving their homes.

He says “We have a great community that needs to get the support it’s due, not just once every four years prior to elections. We deserve a Council that delivers, not one that just waffles about what it would like to do whilst charging us for the privilege.”

Andy Stranack Andy worked for Croydon Council between 1993-2001. He led the team that secured Croydon’s largest single project lottery grant of £2.8 million to re-build Thornton Heath Leisure Centre. In 1995 he helped set up and Chaired the Croydon Disability Forum, a group that campaigns for disability rights in Croydon. Andy now works for Croydon Jubilee Church as a Community Development Worker on the Monks Hill Estate in Selsdon. As part of his role he works with many of the young people on the Estate. He has helped set up a lunch club for the retired and secured funding to run a number of Positive Parenting courses in the local area. He is a member of the Monks Hill Residents’ Association and also manages the Edgecoombe Community Centre.

His passion in life is working with the Church, friends and neighbours to build a strong local community.

What will we do if elected?

  • To introduce a uniformed Neighbourhood Enforcement Officer to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour on Fieldway.
  • To provide the Police with off road Motor Bikes to help them deal with Mini-Motor Bike Riders.
  • To ensure that Croydon’s element of Council Tax rises is no higher than 4% and work towards reducing the increases so that the rises are below the level of inflation.
  • Stop any more expensive and environmentally-unfriendly road humps being placed on Fieldway and to use different technologies to reduce car speeds.
  • Launch a scheme where every school leaver is offered the chance to do voluntary community service.
  • To launch a blitz on graffiti and fly-tipping
