We will campaign for a fair
deal for South Norwood. In particular we will:
Campaign for
six day a week opening for South Norwood Library
- its facilities are badly needed by pupils
from the local schools and it currently closes
on Thursdays.
Review
the condition and use of Beulah Heights Park
- it has been badly neglected for many years
and will now have to serve the young children
from a new adjoining housing development.
Rethink
the road junction at Park Road/Selhurst Road
to make better provision for turning traffic.
Improve
the District Shopping Centre in South Norwood
High Street - the emulsion paint initiative
by Labour was not enough to stimulate trade
and the use of local shops.
Take steps
to deal with crime in the Station Road area
- better use could be made of CCTV, and police
patrols at peak periods should be mounted
from the main police station a few yards away
Reintroduce
public toilets in South Norwood - those flanking
the Portland Road Railway Bridge access were
closed many years ago, and those under the
Clocktower are also closed.
